Oh To Be Wise Meditations
Owe no man nothing but to love him. You say I do not owe anyone any debts, property, or land? I am a good person and follow the law as best I can. How can I pay back my neighbor a debt I do not owe? Jesus has called us to bear each others burdens. To be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. We may not feel we owe grace or mercy to each other. But Jesus has called us to not wink away at sin but to let the love of Christ save souls from death. To those who are hungry give them something to eat. To those who are thirsty give them something to drink. To those who are strangers invite them in. If they need clothes then clothed them. If they are sick look after them, even in prison go and visit them. Yes, many may not deserve these things but we deserved nothing from Christ and He gave everything for us. We love because Christ loved us first. Whatever we do for one of the least of these brothers or sisters, we are doing it for Jesus. Oh Lord I thank you for this debt of love I have towards my neighbor. It teaches me patience, giving me the virtue to overlook an offense. I ought to forgive and comfort so that I will not be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. Love covers a mulitude of sins. Yes, the debt no one can repay me and the debt that I cannot repay. Christ has made recompense and all the glory belongs to Him. Now that we have been forgiven of much sin, let us not go around in pride collecting minor wages that are owed to us. We have been forgiven enough in Christ for a lifetime. Meditate Matt. 25:41-44
