Oh To Be Wise Meditations
Lord, you will not allow people to live forever, they are mortal. Even in Noah's day you said, they will live no longer than 120 years. Your Spirit that is life giving will not remain with mankind forever, because they are corrupt. You strive and struggle with our flesh but its to no avail without the Cross. The world craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to each other, one bringing death and the other life. The spirit of man grows weak with each passing generation. Though the world progresses in wisdom and knowledge, moral reasoning begins to separate peoples and nations. Jesus is the only hope for mankind. He knows we are flesh and like the wind that blows by and then is gone. He took on this flesh to bear the penalty of our sins. And the result of God’s gracious gift is very different from the result of that one man’s sin. For Adam’s sin led to condemnation, but God’s free gift leads to our being made right with God, even though we are guilty of many sins. Death ruled like a king because Adam had sinned. But that cannot compare with what Jesus Christ has done. God has treated us with undeserved grace, and he has accepted us because of Jesus. And so we will live and rule like kings. All who receive God's abundant grace and are freely put right with him will rule in life through Christ. In our old age, when we cannot run like we use to, and have our limitations because of our condemned flesh. We have this living hope that we will not die in our sins. But we will be raised with the same Spirit that rose Jesus from the dead! We will have a ressurection body like Christ's, that can strive with spirit and life forever.
