Oh To Be Wise Meditations

We need a holiness that comes from relationship with Jesus. Bearing spiritual fruit that can be evident in our lives. You can discern the difference with someone who is booksmart alone, and has no personal relationship. To someone who is daily engaging in prayer and meditation. God wants us to spend time with him but we must guard our hearts from just learning about God, but actually get to know God. Jesus is the way to know God personally and we must pursure the knowledge of him. As we put our faith in him we begin to grow in holiness and truth. A good biblical example of this is the story of Peter and John before the council. The officials were amazed to see how brave Peter and John were, and they knew that these two apostles were only ordinary men and not well educated. The officials were certain these men had been with Jesus. I pray that the things we do and say remind people that we have been with Jesus. That our lives represent the hard work of sacrifice and honor to God in Christ. Its not enough to carefully follow the traditions of man but break the commands of God in the process. What comes out of your mouth from your heart is what makes us unfit to worship God. Out of our hearts come evil thoughts, murder, unfaithfulness in marriage, vulgar deeds, stealing, telling lies, and insulting others. These things among many others are what make you unclean and impossible to have clear open relationship with Christ. Your own pursuit of holiness will not make you fit to worship God. Bring all the things that you are failing at in the word to Jesus. He will give the grace to just be a child of God, and day by day transform you into his image. Lord, I do not want to misrepresent your word when I write about holiness. Use my life to show your love and mercy around me. Rather than beat people over the head with the bible, let me live holiness out through relationship with you. This so that people can want what I have and pursue righteousness from Christ and not from within themselves.
