Oh To Be Wise Meditations.
The consequences of sin is death. If we let sin take its course in our lives we are already dead even though there is breath in our lungs. God uses our sin to lead us to repentance. Transgression of the law is sin and we all break it daily. Not just in the physical sense but in the spiritual sense of the heart. If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. Lets confess our sins and know that Jesus is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us. Now, this does not mean we live in a negative spirit with a woe is me attitude. We are to live like a son or daughter of God and not with an orphan spirit, doubting the spirit God gave us to live in. A spirit of power and love and sound mind. Lets not be ashamed of the Gospel but join in the fellowship of suffering and holy calling. What is impossible for man is possible for God. In Christ we can live forgiven even though we will fall many times. God knows that living in constant sin will cause worse things to happen to us, even to be eternally separated from him. So Jesus took upon himself the punishment for our sins and He lives to intercede for us. That means we need Christ to have any kind of victory over sin. Period. Corruption is contagious and only God can keep us from self destruction. Think about this: It is thought that germs only cause disease. But a bacteria like E. Coli that is found in the intestine, actually helps us digest green vegetables and beans. Also helps in making vitamin K that causes blood to clot. If this vitamin is not produced through this bacteria we would bleed to death whenever we would get a small clot. So it is with sin in our lives, if not for the grace of Christ the smallest of sins would bring us death. If we do not recognize our sinful nature how can we survive day by day. We are constantly making mistakes whether by thought or deed. It is a gift from God that we realize we are sinners, and that we need Christ. Let me explain what I am trying to say here. Help me Jesus. I am not saying that God causes us to sin, he is holy and can never be associated with evil. But God has set a standard in his law that when it is broken is called sin. Instead of condemning us for the breaking of his law, he forgives us through Christ giving us the gift of repentance. The penalty of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. We are still sinful creatures living in a sinful world. That does not excuse us from living for Jesus. He bears our sin and shame so that we can walk in freedom right now. Lets be thankful for the law of his word that shows us our sins. It will take a lifetime to bear our cross in this world. And it will take eternity to understand the power Gods love through the Cross of Christ. If you are experiencing any guilt or shame because of sin, go and be forgiven by Jesus before something worse happens to you. Be careful even the littlest sins lead to death. I pray you confess them and let guilt lead you to repentance. Its amazing how forgiveness frees you from sin and death. Leading you to spirit and life where grace abounds much more than sin does. And relationship with God is so treasured that you want to protect from sin coming in. His holiness protects us from our weak flesh. His love keeps us from falling into the absyss of continual sin and death. Meditate Romans 6:23
