Proverbs of a 36 yr old man
I wish I could put on humility so I can get a pat on the back from you. Like in the old ancient days of the Bible, where wearing sackcloth and ashes represented lowliness and obscureness. It is so easy to become prideful in your humility. That is why it is a day by day, faith by faith experience of knowing Christ that you truly begin to understand humility. Being humble has nothing to do with the outer appearance. Humility is from the inside and bears supernaturally its fruit on the outside. But not everyone regards humility as a virtue. Depending on the spirit you are operating in will determine if humility is the outcome. The Pharisees to Jesus were white wash tombs. Humble on the outside and conceited in the inside. To the Pharisees Jesus was an arrogant glutton, a drunkard, and a friend of tax collectors and sinners. The world has its own humility that comes from sin. But the humility from Christ comes from the very nature of God. Jesus always had the nature of God. He became like a human being and appeared in human likeness. He was humble and walked the path of obedience all the way to death, his death on the cross. It is the Spirit of Christ in us that makes us truly humble at heart. Let us walk the path of obedience Christ has laid out for us in the Gospel. Your humility depends on it. Study Phil. 2:6-11
