Proverbs of a 36 yr old man

Change myself. Am I trying to change myself to please society and culture? Or to be a better person and maybe change my identity to deny the person I once was? We do need to make change in our lives of things that are destroying us, especially sin. There is so much I want to change in myself when I look at the life Christ lived. But its impossible in my own strength, the magnitude of my iniquity has exposed my weaknesses and defeat. Can people change the color of their skin, or a leopard remove its spots? If they could, then you that do nothing but evil could learn to do what is right. Apart from a personal relationship with Jesus, would good is personal change? Who are we trying to be or become? Are we beating to death the dead leopard of change trying to remove spots we were never meant to remove on our own. Change myself, man, as I look at my new identity in Christ I believe the impossible becomes possible. In our own strength, change withers and is blown away. But the sanctifying work of the Gospel gives you a change that last for eternity. A change that wants to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. To want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, so that one way or another we will experience the resurrection from the dead! It brings me to tears knowing, when I look in the mirror and see all my spots and imperfections, that Christ has bore that for me by becoming human. And when I look at the life that He lived and died for me, I can say I am not who I once was but I am becoming who He has called me to be. A true change that comes from knowing the Living Word Himself.
