Battle Prayer Notes Dec. 23, 2022
Friday topic: Money and power. How to create wealth for you and your family. Debt and management. Money brings power. How do we stay humble and live from God's power? Let us not deny God's power in our lives.
The love of money is the root of all evil.
Money can become an idol.
The LORD wants us to live in abundance.
It’s almost taboo for a Christian to have money and be wealthy.
When we lose everything we still have God who is everything.
Deut 8:18
The LORD gives the power to give wealth.
What are you chasing? Money flies away quickly especially when we need it.
We exchange the image of God for sinful pleasure and gain.
It’s an everyday battle to keep the love of money at bay. Contentment with godliness is great gain.
Chasing the love of money births a lot of evil desires.
Nothing is ours, everything is The LORDs!
The LORD was not telling the rich young ruler not to be rich. He wanted his heart. Money has his heart and Jesus knew he needed freedom.
There were rich people that followed Christ. Joseph of Armithea was wealthy and gave his grave for the body of Jesus to be buried.
Deuteronomy 6:10-12
10 When the LORD your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you—a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build,
11 houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant—then when you eat and are satisfied,
12 be careful that you do not forget the LORD, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
You can save so much money that forget to save your soul.
A person gets
We cannot use money as the world uses it. Use it for Gods glory.
Jesus wanted to the rich young to give up his idol.
With money you can buy all the desire of the flesh.
I see a person with a huge harvest. Then builds a barn to hoard.
Be a blessing to others. Because I am blessed by God.
“I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.”
Luke 16:9
Money can become a curse in your life but also be a blessing.
The blessing of obedience.
Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.
1 Timothy 6:18-19 NLT
Philippians 4:11-13
Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Prov. 13:7
One person pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.
The world likes to use money to pull us away from the people we love.
“Caring for the poor is lending to the Lord, and you will be well repaid.”
Proverbs 19:17
Honor our parents there is a blessing in that.
Mark 12:41-44
And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny. And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”
People can never predict when hard times might come. Like fish in a net or birds in a trap, people are caught by sudden tragedy.
You can have all the money in the world but if there are no resources is meaningless.
Money is useful. Toilet paper can be money.
Money corrupts hearts. Guard your hearts.
You will give up your morality for the love of money.
Our money has Gods name on it. It’s his.
Money causes betrayal.
Judas could have been paid anywhere between $90 and $3,000 in today’s sums.
God will give you what you need in his time. If not you will miss it.
Thank you for another great week of Zoom Battle Prayer.
