Oh To Be Wise Meditations
Infused with power. For when we brought you the Good News, it was not only with words but also with power, for the Holy Spirit gave you full assurance that what we said was true. And you know of our concern for you from the way we lived when we were with you. So you received the message with joy from the Holy Spirit in spite of the severe suffering it brought you. In this way, you imitated both us and the Lord. For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power. LORD, whether I talk or preach, let me not try to prove anything by sounding wise. I must simply let God's Spirit show his power. This is what the sovereign LORD says to these bones in the book of Ezekiel 37:5: Look, I am about to infuse breath into you and you will live. God causes us to be permeated with Holy Spirit through the Living Word who is Jesus our LORD. The scriptures without Christ are just words on a page, it is He who infuses the words with power so when we read and meditate we are transformed. It is not magical words being spoken, but it is the living presence of God that fills the earth that we cannot see with the naked eye. To infuse is to steep something in a liquid to extract the flavors from it. We need to trust in God's word believing that there is power behind. We eat an orange believing that it is packed with Vitamin C. Science can prove it. It is the same with God's living word. Jesus has infused scriptures with his power, fulfilling all the promises God has made. His Resurrection has proved it. We need only to preach Gods word and give space for Holy Spirit to work. Not through our fancy arguments but through purity of Gods word in sinful hearts. Wisdom is shown to be right by the lives of those who follow it. If we follow God at his word will he not transform us? Its infused with the Spirit of Christ, watch how his power saves sinners from certain death and into a sure eternal life.
