Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Do good things everywhere you go. After a while the good you do will return to help you. Give freely and unselfishly, don't have a stingy heart when you give, and because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you do. A generous person will be blessed, for they share their bread with the poor. Notice there bread, from there substance. Give from what you can, from what you have and not from what you don't have. Then Jesus said to the man who had invited him: When you give a dinner or a banquet, don't invite your friends and family and relatives and rich neighbors. If you do, they will invite you in return, and you will be paid back. When you give a feast, invite the poor, the paralyzed, the lame, and the blind. They cannot pay you back. But God will bless you and reward you when his people rise from death. The greatest blessing of all is to be at the banquet in God's kingdom! Evil people get rich for the moment, but the reward of the godly will last. Just to have a seat at the Lamb's Supper is enough of an incentive. But why should I look to do good things in a such an evil world? While money does make the world go round it is actually peace that sustains it. An abundance of money with no peace is like an empty wage or a bottomless lake. Much spending, much swimming, but no contentment or rest, just a sinking feeling. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap the fruit of righteousness. In a world devastated by sin and death, the giving of yourself either of money, time or skill, sows the peaceable fruit of love. The work of righteousness will be peace; the service of righteousness will be quiet confidence forever. Do horses run on rocks? Does a farmer plow the sea with oxen? Yet, the world has turned justice into something deadly and what is righteous into poison. Live for Jesus and share his peace freely. God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God. Meditate Gal. 6:8
