Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Though the wicked sprout like weeds and evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever. In the morning they blooms and flourishes, but by evening they are dry and withered. For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant of the wicked; its flower falls and its beauty is lost. So too, the rich man will fade away in the midst of his pursuits. Indeed LORD, we are brought to an end by your anger; by your wrath we are dismayed. You spread out our sins before you, our secret sins you see them all. I need your forgiveness for my pride and willful sin Jesus. My sins are ever before me and I commit many of them habitually and ignorantly. We live our lives beneath your wrath, ending our years with a groan. Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty. But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we fly away. Who can comprehend the power of your anger? Your wrath is as awesome as the fear you deserve. Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom. Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives. Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery! Replace the evil years with good. Jesus, you give such beauty to everything that grows in the fields, even though it is here today and thrown into a fire tomorrow. You will surely do even more for us! Why should I have such little faith? More than anything else, I must put God's work first and do what he wants. Yes, Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. My roots of faith are planted in Christ. After this life Jesus will raise me up again as a strong oak of righteousness.
