Oh To Be Wise Meditations
For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands. My spirit was born a slave to the flesh. But the curse is broken in Christ. I no longer belong to the dust the earth. I will be raised incorruptible, soon to be free from this condemned flesh. In death this earthly tent will be done away with and my spirit will find a home the house of heaven. Just as Jesus lives in me now, I will live in Him in new flesh and spirit. Not born of human hands but in newness of life. In the New Jerusalem forever will my soul be safe in the presence of God! No decay and rust of sin will ever touch my body and mind again. Listen to the Apostle Peter's words: I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, I know that I shall soon put off this mortal body, as our Lord Jesus Christ plainly told me. And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things. For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." We ourselves heard that voice from heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain. Because of that experience, we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts. Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.
