Oh To Be Wise Meditations

While Apollos was in Corinth, Paul traveled across the hill country to Ephesus, where he met some of the Lord's followers. He asked them, "When you put your faith in Jesus, were you given the Holy Spirit?" "No!" they answered. "We have never even heard of the Holy Spirit." Then why were you baptized?" Paul asked. They answered, "Because of what John taught." Paul replied, "John baptized people so they would turn to God. But he also told them someone else was coming, and they should put their faith in him. Jesus is the one that John was talking about." After the people heard Paul say this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied. I don't think many Christians realize the gift that Holy Spirit is. Paul showed the difference to believers from John's baptism to faith in Jesus. Its not just about to turning to God and saying sorry. The Gospel is so much more than that. The Holy Spirit is the game changer, the Spirit of Christ is what makes the dead people live. Having the supernatural power of God working in our hearts and minds, is the gift that keeps on giving. In Christ we can truly find life, righteousness, and honor. He wants to pour out His Spirit all over us and to desire His Presence more than anything else. “Listen to me, all who hope for deliverance— all who seek the LORD! Consider the rock from which you were cut, the quarry from which you were mined. Yes, think about Abraham, your ancestor, and Sarah, who gave birth to your nation. Abraham was only one man when I called him. But when I blessed him, he became a great nation.” The LORD will comfort Israel again and have pity on her ruins. Her desert will blossom like Eden, her barren wilderness like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found there. Songs of thanksgiving will fill the air. Our faith in Christ is our foundation, let us

follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. Yes, Let love be your highest goal! But you should also desire the special abilities the Spirit gives! We have been given such a gift from God,

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. The Holy Spirit is the life changer. Receive Jesus today and be filled with the power of the Gospel!
