Oh To Be Wise Meditations
Rain is the best fertilizer. At least that is what my wife would say. Nothing like fresh rain for your plants, grass, and shrubs. God given liquid gold for farmers to grow there crops. Precious nourishment for all creatures high and below. How much more does humanity need the rain of Holy Spirit to grow in the nourishment of Christ? I think about the woman at the wall asking Jesus for this precious living water. Where can she find it and how much can she have? Oh the Living Water that Jesus had for her, we can have it too in abundance! The Holy Spirit is the rain water to our souls. Without Him we are dead in our sins with no chance of growth or redemption. We need to be refreshed daily by the spirit of the word as we learn the letter of the word. There is so much Jesus wants to fertilize in us if only we would wait for the rain. Oh, that we might know the LORD! Let us press on to know him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring. May His teachings fall like rain and his word settle within like dew, like gentle rain on new grass, like showers on tender plants that we are. LORD, you take care of the earth and water it, making it rich and fertile. The river of God has plenty of water; it provides a bountiful harvest of grain, for you have ordered it so. You soak its furrows and level its ridges; You soften it with showers and bless its growth. Yes, have your way with me Jesus, soak me with heaven's rain and bless me with righteous growth.
