Oh To Be Wise Meditations
It's not free. Sin has a cost and it takes its toll. Losing a piece of your soul one sinful desire at a time. What good is it to gain the world but lose your soul. Your soul is what makes you you. Your soul is what makes you alive before God. And if we are dead in our sins we will be destroyed by its destructive guilt and shame. How important is it you the soul which God has given you. Your body is the LORD's any way, but the soul are we willing to protect it? You cannot buy back your life or pay off God! It costs far too much to buy back your life. You can never pay God enough to stay alive forever and safe from death. All the rich of the earth will feast and worship; all who go down to the dust will kneel before Him--even those unable to preserve their lives. No one can live forever; all will die. No one can escape the power of the grave. This is why Christ said, "If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it." The profit of this life without Jesus is eventually hating life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous, for all is vanity and vexation of spirit. The soul that sins will die. Christ has come so that we might have life now and have it more abundantly. For He will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul He will replenish.
