Oh To Be Wise Meditations

How can I get real contentment in my life? I think the Apostle can give me real perspective on this? Listen to this: I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Phil. 4:11-13 Real contentment is learned through trial and fire, if we look at it that way. Paul learned this through every situation he went through finding contentment in Jesus. It gives us a peaceable fruit of discernment that we so desperately need. If we can learn to depend on God in plenty and in lack, we grow a character in us that is priceless. You can purchase the Holy Spirit. But if we freely receive Him in our lives we will be more like Christ more and more everyday. I can't imagine what real contentment looks like, every one suffers differently. Jesus had all he need on earth yet had nothing of earthly measure that we would compare. Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
