Oh To Be Wise Meditations

I was watching a sports documentary about the Chicago Bulls basketball dynasty. There was a portion of the documentary where it talked about a basketball great named Larry Bird. One thing stood out to me when they spoke of the Celtics and Bulls rivalry. The amount of respect they had for Larry Bird. A fierce competitor and winner, Bird would ruin many teams hope for championships during his time. His contemporaries and players at the time told stories of the amazing determination of Larry Bird. One in particular is that at the end of many games, Bird would tell the other team what the play would be. The exact play and place where the ball would be and that he would take it and make it. Amazing the confidence he had in himself and his team. What an intimidation factor to have over your opponent, that even if some one perfectly executed a defense your offense is better. Larry Bird made the shot more times than not. But this reminds me that God has had a plan since before the beginning. His wisdom and his ways are above all his creation, both great and small. Jesus had such an intimation factor over the devil. The enemy had the playbook in his hands and saw the play being written up against him. And he could do nothing to stop his demise. The word of God up to the time of Jesus contained the blueprints of salvation for humanity. But it was on the Cross that victory was first shouted from the rooftops. God wiped out the charges that were against us for disobeying the Law of Moses. He took them away and nailed them to the cross. There Christ defeated all powers and forces. He let the whole world see them being led away as prisoners when he celebrated his victory. The devil has been defeated and Jesus has won the battle over death, the devils greatest weapon. The head of the snake has been cut off but its tail still wipes the backs of humanity. Sin and death will totally be dealt with when the victory trophy will be presented to Christ and all his saints in His Second Coming. Till that day remember that Jesus has the intimation factor over the devil. No matter what the enemy has planned, what is written will prevail. Lord, you have written your laws in my heart so that I may not sin against thee. I know it has been written. Meditate John 12:31
