Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Why do we work out our faith so much with much fear and trembling? With so much discipline and dedication? Is it show off and take pride in ourselves? No, it should be to strengthen those who are weak. Those with weak hands and feeble knees, those with doubts and fears in their hearts. God comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ. May Christ's word living in us steady those who have stumbled; as well as brace the knees that are buckling. The Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. Hear the LORD say: But I have pleaded in prayer for you, my child, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again, strengthen your brothers and sisters. Yes, strengthen and encourage yourself in the LORD. And go strengthen others. Surely God will bring evil doers down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch them up and pluck them from their tent; he will uproot them from the land of the living. The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at evil people, saying, “Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!” But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word. For what you have done I will always praise you in the presence of your faithful people. And I will hope in your name, for your name is good.
