Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Driving to work this morning and I saw a new business called The Good Guys. I was like man I would like to meet them, with a name like that who wouldn't? Not sure what kind of business that was but that is a high bar to live up to. I think that is the same thing for Christians, who take the name of Jesus and have such a high calling. Do we real live up to the name that we bear as our faith and purpose? Or are we just the good guys on the outside but when we interact with people its just a front. To bear the name of Christ is a big deal, many around the world are persecuted in name only. Let alone living out holy principles and doctrines where it may may offend others. That is why I say do we bear the name of Christ daily? I know I am not perfect but I want to be more than just a good guy on the outside. I want Jesus to take joy in my life lived for Him. Its not a show I do to make myself approved before men. No, I want the righteousness of Christ to reflect from me to others. For people to see Jesus in me and not just another good guy on the outside. Listen, lets not be ashamed of the Gospel, we are called Christians and to imitate Christ Jesus our LORD. But than a tattoo on our arm or back, let the Living Word be written on our hearts so that we live up to the upward call of Jesus. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.

Meditate Phil. 1:20
