Oh To Be Wise Meditations

The church is not a business model. It's to be a blessing ministry. Its to function as a physical body, all parts working together as a Light to dark world. Far too often churches make people rich and that far from the point. Its ok to be wealthy and have make money in serving the LORD. For the Scripture says, “You must not muzzle an ox to keep it from eating as it treads out the grain.” And in another place, “Those who work deserve their pay!” Elders who do their work well should be respected and paid well, especially those who work hard at both preaching and teaching. But ministry is not a calling to become rich but walk just and humbly before your God. Yes, the greatest wealth is the LORD himself. We are serve the LORD and not bite the hand that feeds us. A good example of this was the harvesting of farmers in Israel. They were to gleam the land and whatever was left over the poor and needy who take for food. Many leaders of our churches are taking the farm and giving the left overs to the congregation. And some not even. This is not a get rich scheme, or a do this or buy this for God kind of deal. Ministry unto the LORD is be a blessing to others and they in return if they can bless you. Paul said to the Corinthians, "Was it a sin for me to humble myself in order to exalt you, because I preached the gospel of God to you free of charge?" Paul struggled so much with this, yet churches don't even bat an eye at spending money for earthly purposes. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry. We need laborers out in the field. Pray the LORD send out laborers because the harvest ready. Unfortunately, a lot of laborers have been made fat and don't need to collect a harvest. The forgot it is not about the money but about people. That is the true currency that matters from doing ministry. What good is all the money if there is no fruit of souls. The LORD plants and waters, and He makes things grow. As leaders of churches and ministry we are to be good stewards and avoiding barns of stuff that will burn in judgment fire. The church is not a business model.
