Oh To Be Wise Meditations

It's ok to contemplate death. It's a humbling thought to think about, doesn't it feel like you're going to live forever? Imagine all the people you love, all the hard work you put in, gone because of death. When God told Adam and Eve they would die I'm sure they struggled with that concept as we do now. Even with all the knowledge gained by every passing generation death is still a mystery. God made it that way so that we would not get comfortable in this world of sin and death. Jesus came and conquered death on the Cross removing the fear of death itself. He is waiting on the other side of this life and not the enemy of our souls. The second death is being prepared for the devil and his angels and anyone who wants to partake of rebellion against God. Death is a reward for those who chose not to live in the presence of Him who is true Spirit and Life. Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. We can accept death when it comes looking because Jesus will raise us from the dead. He has already raised us from the dead of our sins. It's funny, I don't want to die and leave this world behind. So many things I love about it. The good things and the people I love. The sunsets, the oceans, the tasty foods and the sweet drinks, the baseball games and basketball excitement. But my heart and my flesh cry out to the living God! It's stirs so much more within to want to know God and his purpose for me. This world cannot give me that. The world could search for eternity into endless galaxies and find nothing but stardust. Trusting in science to find the meaning and purpose of things leads to much study and worry. Death is welcomed to the weary mind because there is a finality to this chaos life. Oh death where is your sting? Jesus has taken its poison and given us a hope for eternity. Think about death, its ok. Let it lead you to your need of a Savior. None of us can hold back our spirit from departing. None of us has the power to prevent the day of our death. There is no escaping that obligation, that dark battle. And in the face of death, wickedness will certainly not rescue the wicked. Yes, we cannot control the wind or determine the day of our death. There is no escape in time of war, and no one can hide behind evil. As you begin to make sense out of death you will see how Gods love is actually in processes of death. He did not want mankind to live forever in the consequences of sin and death. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. The LORD takes no pleasure in the death of anyone. He desires that you turn, and live. Live Forever oh Christian even now!
