Oh To Be Wise Meditations

God is like a natural spring from the ground that satisfies the soul, while the world looks to build their own wells to quench their own thirsty lips. Springs occur naturally when water pressure causes a flow of groundwater onto the earth's surface. This pressure moves water through the cracks and tunnels within the aquifer, and this water flows out naturally to the surface at places called springs. This process is different from a well that God does not give naturally. A groundwater well is man made, and have traditionally been sunk by hand digging. Requires a lot of manual labor making an excavation or structure in the ground to find groundwater in the earth. The LORD says, You, my people, have sinned in two ways--you have rejected me, the source of life-giving water, and you've tried to collect water in cracked and leaking pits dug in the ground. Many people don't know what God wants to give them and if they did, they would ask Jesus for the water that gives life. He wants to give streams of living water from within and not just satisfy gluttoned lips. It is exhausting trying to find meaning and purpose without God. Your holding water with cracked cisterns and soon you will parch not only your life but your own very soul. God has produced a natural spring in Christ, drink freely for it has been purchased by his blood. Lord, help me to stop digging wells of insecurity and be satisfied with your groundwater faith. It is deep in me this groundswell of peace and joy found in God alone.
