Oh To Be Wise Meditations
Oh LORD I need financial wisdom. How beautiful is this sound doctrine: Hebrews 13:5 says keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” My goodness that is so powerful. Be content and free from love of money. God promises to be our provider as work hard in this life and toil each day. I think about Adam and Eve as they sat in perfection, the Garden of Eden. They had so much to choose from. Scriptures says starting in Gen. 2:15, The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it. And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” Adam and Eve could not find contentment amongst all the trees God had provided. They wanted the only thing the forbidden tree could offer. To be like God knowing good and evil. This is what the love of money does to our hearts. We think money and power can buy us happiness. But we are not God, we are his creation. We live and move and have our being through him. But the lie from the beginning was this: you won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman. “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil. The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too. At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves. Money can't buy us love and happiness. It is given freely to us by God and only he can satisfy our needs and wants. True financial wisdom is found in the resources of God. He has given us many trees to eat from and what ask is to keep away from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Lets obey Christ today at his word and live content in the riches of the Gospel. There is so much abundant fruit eat to our hearts content.
