Proverbs of a 37 yr old man
Your ways are so much higher. Your thoughts are so much higher. The way you do things is so much different than I would do it. My sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives me desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so I am not free to carry out my good intentions. In fact, I don't understand why I act the way I do. I don't do what I know is right. I do the things that I hate. But you do great things, LORD! Your thoughts are too deep for an ignorant fool to know or understand. You look down from heaven at us humans to see if there are any who are wise to search for you, any who will worship you. Evil people do not know what justice is, but those who worship the LORD understand it well. People who are guided by the Spirit can make all kinds of judgments and not be subject to human intellect, being judged by others. For the Scriptures ask, "Has anyone ever known the thoughts of the Lord or given him advice?" But we do understand what Christ is thinking. We have the Mind of Christ to content and have victory over the flesh, the world and its influences. This is why only someone who has God's Spirit can understand spiritual blessings. Anyone who doesn't have God's Spirit thinks these blessings are foolish. The Gospel message was taught to us by God's Spirit, not by human wisdom. And this same Spirit helps us teach spiritual things to spiritual people. Our ways have to be much higher, our thoughts have to be much higher, Help me LORD Jesus.
