Proverbs of a 37 yr old man
Today I want to focus on the fish again that was caught by the same old hook. Only this time instead of it being dragged off to death imagine it now fighting that hook resisting consequence and failure. Fighting back the pull of death and wanting to survive. Think about that when we are fighting back a guilty conscience and a condemning spirit? Yes, we have sinned again but God forbid when we come to our senses we do not repent. The longer we linger in pity and sorrow the more we zap and quench the Spirit working in us. Now, when a fish is caught there will be blood. The hook has cut the mouth or body part causing injury and loss of strength. And I thought about this in seeing the fish fighting to be free from its captor, it reminds me of a sinner trying to be loosed of sins wrath. In our strength the blood of our sins surrounds us reminding us of our weaknesses. We are held captive to sins desire and our strength to overcome dissipates. Stay with me now, Jesus died for sinful man of his own free will and gave up all he had, taking the nature of a servant. He became like a human being and appeared in human likeness. Shedding human blood as a remedy for mankind's sin and suffering on earth. Meaning the power to overcome sin and this life is in the blood of Christ. The lifeblood we need is in the life perfectly lived by Jesus. The strength we need to fight off sins hook and temptation is in the mighty blood that was shed for us. Amen. Picture this same fish as it fights to survive, its you and me trying not be dragged through the fires of sin and hell. Sins hook has brought on blood that circles all around us, only now this blood is a reminder that the blood of Jesus is our strength. Without the shedding of blood their is no remission of sins. Jesus blood has covered our blood guilt and shame. It is through the blood of the Lamb we will be preserved in this life and the next. Look around you the blood of the New Covenant surrounds us and their is power to live a resurrected life! But now remember, their remains no sacrifice for those who trample the blood of Christ, who give away their birthright in Christ for a morsel of sins rebellion. (Spoiler alert) Its like a fish with no blood left to bleed, no strength to pull away from sins desires. We will talk about this tomorrow as I close out this proverb. To be continued last part, part 3.....
