Should you not fear me? Should you not tremble in my presence? Declares the LORD. He made the sand a boundary for the sea, an everlasting barrier it cannot cross. The waves may roll, but they cannot prevail; they may roar, but they cannot cross it. But for the wicked it is like a tossing sea; for it cannot be still, and its waters toss up mire and dirt constantly. There is no peace for the wicked," says my God. For the LORD has promised that none who are evil will live in peace. The very look on their faces gives them away. They display their sin like the people of Sodom and don’t even try to hide it. They are doomed! They have brought destruction upon themselves. Remember that your own evil will punish you, and your turning from the LORD will condemn you. You will learn how bitter and wrong it is to abandon the LORD your God, and no longer remain faithful to Him. Jesus himself is peace, those who trust in Him will never be moved but remain still in peaceful waters. Such people will not be overcome by evil. The righteous will be remembered forever! They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the LORD. They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly. They share freely and give generously to those in need. Their good deeds will be remembered forever. They will have influence and honor. The wicked will see this and be infuriated. They will gnash their teeth and waste away; the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.
