Proverbs of a 38 yr old man

How do we handle an angry person? Our instinctive response is to come back with a brash and hurtful retort. But that will just escalate the level of rage. The other option would be to give a gentle and soft answer. Avoiding needless quarreling by defusing a tense situation. This requires forethought, patience, self control, and kindness. When we get angry it is easy to let fly a sentence that we wish we could pull back. But it’s too late. What has been said has been said. Forgiveness and mercy must start it’s perfect work to mend broken hearts. The only way to prevent such blunders is to exercise self control before the words leave our mouths. Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut, and you will stay out of trouble. Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips.
