Proverbs of a 39 yr old man

You cannot live the life of generosity that God has called you to if you remain in the debt of sin and selfishness. Only godliness with contentment is great gain. It's a contentment which comes from a sense of inner confidence based on the sufficiency of God. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. So many people long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For its the faithful person that will abound with blessings, but whoever hastens to be rich will not go unpunished. And whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered. Those who have made Christ there provision have learned to be content with a little and to be generous when having a lot. Yes, they understand what it means to have enough so that they can be generous. Notice many times the most stingiest of people are those who have too much and have hoarded. God will pour out his anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and instead live lives of wickedness. We have been enriched by Christ in every way so that we can always be generous, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. Look! I see believers being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity!
