Proverbs of a 40 yr old man
The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any that understand and seek God. I am weary, O God; I am weary and worn out, O God. I many times am like an animal than a human being; I do not have the sense we humans should have. In reality the whole human race is foolish and has no knowledge! No one has mastered human wisdom, nor knowledge of the Holy One. The craftsmen are disgraced by the idols they make, for their carefully shaped works are a fraud. These idols have no breath or power. They are worthless, the objects of mockery; when their judgment comes, they will perish. God's eternal power and character cannot be seen. But from the beginning of creation, God has shown what these are like by all he has made so that people don't have any excuse. Yes, people knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles. So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. Who is this Son? Who is this King of Glory? The LORD, strong and mighty; the LORD, invincible in battle. Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD JEHOVAH of hosts, he is the venerable King to eternity! Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Jesus! "When He ascended on high, He led captives away, and gave gifts to men." Whose hands have gathered up the wind? Who has wrapped up the waters in a cloak? Jesus! He rebukes the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is the name of his son? Surely you know! Jesus! He is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see, such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. But you must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, your brother Manny, have been appointed as God’s servant to proclaim it; as well as you too.
