Proverbs of a 40 yr. old man
The LORD is my consuming passion. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. Amen. My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So, I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I belong to my beloved LORD Jesus, and his desire is for me. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ, we were set free from the power of sin. We offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. The Holy Spirit is our renewed fire and passion, transforming us by the renewing of our minds. We were dead in our sins but now we are alive in the Spirit! Though my health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, God is the strength of my heart; He is mine forever. As a living sacrifice there will be days where our fire, our passion is like a piece of straw. Nothing to give and our flesh is restless. When we have no fiery effort to give the LORD will be our consuming fire. The LORD is my light and my salvation, so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? Even in the fiery furnace of trials and tribulation He is with us. In the crucibles of life, the LORD Jesus is with us and in us as a consuming passion. When we are hard pressed on every side by troubles we will not be crushed. When we are perplexed, we will not be driven to despair. When we are hunted down, we will never be abandoned. And when we get knocked down, we will not be destroyed. Why? Because Jesus lives in us! Even the world will wonder in amazement at us in our fiery furnace and say: Didn’t we see one person in the furnace? “Look!” I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.” Amen. The LORD God is One. Father, Son, Holy Spirit. He is with me, He is with you, He is with us in the fire, and He is our Holy Fire and Passion!
