Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Life is short and fleeting. LORD, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered, how fleeting my life is. Please, LORD, show me my future. Will I soon be gone? What strength do I have, that I should still hope? What is my future, that I should be patient? You do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For I am a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Life is short and fleeting. For this reason we should share in the oppression of God’s people in this world instead of enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin. Sinful pleasure is short and fleeting, the desires of this world are passing away. So enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun, all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun. Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom.
