Oh To Be Wise-Meditations

Uriah the Hittie was wronged. His wife was taken from him, she cheated on him, he was conspired against, and he was murdered while fighting in the hottest part of the battle. He died alone in the battlefield. But during all of this Uriah firmly showed that He loved God and his comrades even more than his own life. Jesus died alone on the Cross, the Father turned His Face away. He showed he loved His Father and humanity more than He loved His own life. May God in Christ give us the strength to love Him and our neighbor more than our own life. What good is it to enjoy the pleasures of the world and lose the integrity of our soul.
