Oh To Be Wise Meditations

Its amazing how a few dead flies in perfume make all of it stink, and just a little bit of foolishness outweighs a lot of wisdom. The righteous hate what is false, but the wicked make themselves a stench and bring shame on themselves. There is a stench to a life lived without restraint. The slacker craves yet has nothing, but the soul of the diligent is fully satisfied. Yes, an odor to everything around and to those who know you. Just a little bit of unrighteousness brings shame and disgrace. LORD, there are a few dead flies in my life and I know they are stench to you. I can smell it, my spirit testifies to it. As it is written: "There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away from God; they have all gone wrong; no one does what is right, not even one. Their throats are open graves. Their tongues practice deception. Their lips hide the venom of poisonous snakes. Dead flies can be found in the sweetest of spirits. I am surprised of the deep struggles people have, how they have not submitted it to Christ. The smell of their sufferings can be hidden from people but not from God. Jesus, you died for my sins and gave me your sweet spirit to live within me. I humbled that you would come and live in this filth. Since you have come you have tidied up the place. My heart has changed and my mind has become clear. These dead flies once lived but now are sit at the bottom of my soul. Keep them away from the sweet aroma of your presence. I know one day you will give me a new wine skin for my renewed spirit in Christ. But what a testimony to your holiness that you could save a sinner like me, even in the stench of my own sins you have come to make me clean. I pour out my heart as perfume in worship at your feet. Thank you for using me to house your glory and your presence. Without your presence I am an open grave full of dead flies. With you I am alive and full of spirit and life. This is unbelievable how good righteousness can smell on a wretched sinner like me. I am clean, forgiven, and set free. I am flowing like milk and honey, because Jesus loves and fills me constantly. He has a nose for everyone of one of us, if only we would come to him to be cleansed and filled with his love.
