Oh To Be Wise Meditations
LORD, I see a line in front of me and you ask me to walk over it. That is how easy it is to be saved. For anyone who calls on the name of Jesus will be saved. With just a faith as small as a mustard seed we can move mountains out of our way. Simple prayer and confession can get you on the right path of reconciliation with God. But this easy line we cross over we can easily waver in. Many of us don't realize how close we are still to that line. We haven't taken any steps towards the blessings of the Gospel. Content with baby steps when we need to start moving closer to Jesus, living and thriving off of the fruit of the Spirit. If after many years you are still holding on to that mustard seed of faith, then you have not embraced the tree of righteousness the Gospel can be to you. Many people lose their faith in God because their feet stayed close to that line. Faith was given as a gift to us, something we did not earn or deserve. Yet we did not believe in Christ enough to save us in the here in now. Jesus blood has secured eternal life for this who believe and trust in his name. But sadly how many people turn away from God after many troubles and trials. Turn away from God because of the pain caused in a church or fellowship. Many people have escaped the corruption of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, only to be entangled and overcome by it again, their final condition is worse than it was at first. They would have been better off if they had never known about the right way. Even after they knew what was right, they turned their backs on the holy commandments they were given. For how can those who abandon their faith be brought back to repent again? They were once in God's light; they tasted heaven's gift and received their share of the Holy Spirit; they knew from experience that God's word is good, and they had felt the powers of the coming age. But they are too prideful in their sins and start to make a mockery of the pure things they have gained from Jesus. Not willing to bear their Cross they are willing to openly ridicule the grace they found in Christ. And then they abandoned their faith! It is impossible to bring them back to repent again, because they are again crucifying the Son of God and exposing him to public shame. God blesses the soil which drinks in the rain that often falls on it and which grows plants that are useful to those for whom it is cultivated. But land that produces only thorn bushes is worthless. It is likely to fall under God's curse, and in the end it will be set on fire. My friends, I know talking this way is very strong. But sure that you are doing those really good things people do when they are being saved. If not, you will have thrown away such a wonderful salvation that came to you as small as a mustard seed, or as easy a line crossed over. This is a call to maturity, For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do. Do not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Instead, follow the example of those who are going to inherit God’s promises because of their faith and endurance. Meditate Ezekiel 33:13
