Oh To Be Wise Meditations
Make full use of the gift God gave you. He has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment. We do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved. For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith. " Look at the proud! They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked. But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God. We need the Spirit of Christ to rule and reign in our heart, mind, soul, and strength. Wealth is treacherous, and the arrogant are never at rest. They open their mouths as wide as the grave, and like death, they are never satisfied. In their greed they have gathered up many nations and swallowed many peoples. The Holy Spirit preserves our souls from the decay of sin in this world. The gift of Holy Spirit creates a clean heart in us and renews a right spirit within us. Dear friends, if we deliberately continue sinning after we have received knowledge of the truth, there is no longer any sacrifice that will cover these sins. There is only the terrible expectation of God’s judgment and the raging fire that will consume his enemies. The gift is there for us to receive and be transformed. The Salt of Holy Spirit never loses its flavor, its that we lose our appetite for His righteousness. That desire needs be kindled every day by the pursuit of relationship with Jesus. He will keep our desire for Holy Spirit salty and ripe.
