Oh To Be Wise Meditations

People curse God because of all that they have suffered. They curse the God of heaven and do not repent, in truth they do not turn from their evil ways. Only sorrow that turns into rebellion instead of willful change. The wicked have built their lives with filthy hands. Building houses as fragile as a spider’s web, as flimsy as a shelter made of branches. The wicked go to bed rich but wake to find that all their wealth is gone. Terror overwhelms them like a flood, and they are blown away in the storms of the night. The east wind carries them away, and they are gone. It sweeps them away. It whirls down on them without mercy. They struggle to flee from its power. But everyone jeers at them and mocks them. The righteous have built their lives with pure hands. Doing their planning and preparing their fields before they build their house. By wisdom a house is built and by understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with every precious and beautiful treasure. The wise are mightier than the strong, and those with knowledge grow stronger and stronger. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built. Therefore, let all the godly pray to you oh Lord, while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment. It matters how you build your life, either good or bad. Success is not measured by wealth or gain, but by how it is sustained. Evil and sin brings destruction to the things you have built for yourself. Only the things built with intrinsic good from God will last. All people good and bad will deal with the winds of judgment that blows through our world. Anything you have enjoyed apart from God brings much more suffering. Jesus and his calling to build our lives around him is the only thing that brings peace to our earthly sufferings. He took upon Himself the curse of sin so that we could have the joy of resurrected life. Though things in this life for both the good and the bad pass away. The Lord knows and is wanting to make all things new. The wicked want what is rotting away in sin and death. Only what God restores and gives is what the righteous want. Come quickly Jesus, may I never bring shame to your name but honor you by the way I have built my life. No matter what suffering may come, may I never curse your name. Help me, God.
