Oh To Be Wise Meditations
I was driving by a graveyard and saw a tombstone with the name Lazarus. Alleluia! Truly, truly, I tell you, he who believes has eternal life. Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” Lazarus rose and died again. But in the last day, in the twinkling of the eye those who believed in the LORD Jesus will rise from the grave! Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned. Jesus saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. He will one day call out the dead in their graves like Lazarus for full redemption. Till then, He calls out to souls to be made brand new through the power of the Gospel. To live resurrected lives in view of the Cross as a living sacrifice. We can never die, because we have died to self and live for Christ. Having the mindset to live for Christ and to die is gain. Amen.
