Proverbs of a 39 yr old man
He leads me to green pastures. So my sheep have been scattered without a shepherd, and they are easy prey for any wild animal. They have wandered through all the mountains and all the hills, across the face of the earth, yet no one has gone to search for them. Jesus said, I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them in as well, and they will listen to My voice. Then there will be one flock and one shepherd. We all are like sheep that have gone astray, each one has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid upon Him the iniquity of us all. Jesus himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. So know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Let us not go looking for greener pastures or thirst for different streams of water. The LORD is our Shepherd and we should not want. Anything we are lacking he will provide in his time and provision. Here on this earth the grass withers and the flowers fade. Also the water and the well will run dry, but the word of God will endure forever. The LORD will lead us to green pastures and to rivers teeming with spirit and life. Though the grass beneath our feet is turning brown, wait on the LORD Jesus to move to greener pastures. Though your cup is dry, don't go fill your desires with the lustful wines of this world. Look! The LORD provides an open brook even in the desert of the day! Living water that becomes a well of water springing up to eternal life. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart and have peace in knowing that Jesus has overcome the world! Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior. Jesus will lead us to green pastures flowing with life giving water. Till then follow the Shepherd wherever he goes and not the ways of this world. Wait on his voice and do not follow a strangers voice of greener pastures near Sodom and Gomorrah. Imagine this: I look forward to the day where there will be green pastures as far as the eye can see and forevermore! There in Heaven where the people of his pasture lay will be the Mighty River that flows from the Throne and makes glad the city of God! Today lay down in green pastures and allow Jesus to lead you beside his quiet waters. He will restore your soul and guide you along the right paths for his name’s sake.
