Proverbs of a 39 yr old man
Some people use a whip, a sword, or an arrow. Other people lie about their neighbor. Telling lies about friends is like attacking them with clubs and swords and sharp arrows. There are many cruel people who want to attack their neighbor. They could hurt their neighbor with a whip. Or they might use a sword. But you can also hurt your neighbor if you lie about him. You might argue, ‘My lie is merely words. Words do not hurt.’ But your neighbor will suffer because of your evil words. The evil tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks deceitfully; with there mouths each speaks peace to there neighbor, but in there heart they plan an ambush for them. You love every word that devours, O deceitful tongue. There is one whose rash words are like sword thrusts, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. The tongue of the just is tried silver; but the heart of the ungodly shall fail.
