Proverbs of a 40 yr. old man
The world has no answer for sin. There is a reason why Jesus says do not sin before something worse happens to you. Or when The LORD tells Cain sin is at your door and it wants to master you and make you a slave to its desires. Evil desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death. Listen to the Apostle Paul's letter to the Romans starting in chapter 6:23 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness. I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life. Amen. So, sin pays off with death. But God's gift is eternal life given by Jesus Christ our Lord. There is a spiritual darkness and blindness that people live with when they do not live under the covering of the Word of God. The Light shines on in the darkness, and the darkness cannot understand it nor overpower it nor appropriate it nor even absorb it. When you are living and practicing what the Word of God calls sin you are unreceptive to it. The message about the cross doesn't make any sense to lost people. But for those of us who are being saved, it is God's power at work. The world will coddle you in your sin, make provision for your sin, and approve of you to tell others to practice sin and wickedness. The world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. Again, the world has no answer for sin. As believers, we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. But the natural unbelieving man does not accept the teachings and revelations of the Spirit of God, for they are absurd and illogical to him; and he is incapable of understanding them, because they are spiritually discerned and appreciated. For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. Evil people will keep on being evil, and everyone who is dirty-minded will still be dirty-minded. But good people will keep on doing right, and God's people will always be holy. Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God. And you know that Jesus came to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him. Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is. Don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil. Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”
