Proverbs of a 40 yr. old man
When the enemy attacks. The cords of death entangled me; the torrents of destruction overwhelmed me. The cords of the grave coiled around me; the snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears. He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemy, from my foes, who were too strong for me. The enemy of our souls' attacks at the moment of our greatest distress, but the LORD Jesus supports us through it. The LORD will conquer your enemies when they attack you. They will attack you from one direction, but they will scatter from you in seven! The LORD will guarantee a blessing on everything you do and will fill your storehouses with grain. The LORD your God will bless you in the land he is giving you. Amen. If you obey the commands of the LORD your God and walk in his ways, the LORD will establish you as his holy people as he swore he would do. But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. Then all the nations of the world will see that you are a people claimed by the LORD, and they will stand in awe of you. Amen. I can testify, He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me because he delights in me. The LORD has dealt with me according to His Righteousness; according to the cleanness of His hands he has rewarded me. For I have kept the ways of the LORD; I have not turned from my God to follow evil. All his laws are before me; I have not turned away from his decrees. I am blameless before God; I have kept myself from sin by the power of the blood of Christ. Oh, when the enemy attacks. To the faithful He shows Himself faithful; with the blameless man He shows himself blameless; with the purified He show Himself pure; but with the crooked He shows Himself shrewd. The LORD rescue the humble but humiliates the proud. You light a lamp for me. The LORD, my God, lights up my darkness. In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall. When the enemy attacks, He is the Rock within me, His work is perfect; all His ways are just. All the LORD’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection. A God of faithfulness without injustice, righteous and upright is He. I chased my enemies and caught them; I did not stop until they were conquered. I struck them down so they could not get up; they fell beneath my feet. You have armed me with strength for the battle; you have subdued my enemies under my feet. Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.
