Proverbs of a 40 yr. old man
The more wisdom you have, the more you will worry. The more you learn, the more you suffer. Now, who will want to harm you if you are eager to do good? But even if you suffer for doing what is right, God will reward you for it. So don’t worry or be afraid of threats. Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” See how blessed we consider those who have persevered. Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come. You have heard of Job's perseverance and have seen the outcome from the Lord. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy. For if anyone endures the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God, this is to be commended. Now this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ.
