Proverbs of a 40 yr old man
How do you stay connected to the Vine? Jesus is the Vine and He has provided a branch for us to live from. He has given us His Body, His church to stay connected to the vine. He has given us the Living Word to stay connected to the Vine. He has given us the gift of the Holy Spirit to stay connected to the Vine. Many of us have lost connection to the Vine a very long time. The last good connection we have had is just a good sermon.
They have not realized they quenched the power of Holy Spirit in them a long time. They have grieved the Holy Spirit by the way they live having a form of godliness but denying its power. Having received the word they did not allow it to take root in there hearts. It fell by the wayside and the birds came and ate them. Or it fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seeds sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow. The seed wilted under the hot sun, and since they didn’t have deep roots, they died. Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and were choked out by the cares and desires of this world. Remember we did not choose Jesus, but He chose us. He appointed us to go and bear fruit, fruit that will remain so that whatever you ask the Father in His name, He will give to us. Jesus is the vine; and we are the branches. Whoever abides in Him bears much fruit, but apart from Him we can do nothing. We were to grow a branch connection with Jesus so strong in our hearts that we bear spirit and life directly from the Vine! Many of us are holding on to dear life by a twig, yet others are being trampled by the enemy on the ground. Lets get connected again to the true Vine. Jesus is the life we live from, He is the way where we should be going, and He is the truth we should be following. Stay connected the Vine and you will always have fresh wine for your soul!
