Proverbs of a 40 yr old man
Whenever I complain to you, LORD, you are always fair. But now I have questions about your justice. Why is life easy for sinners? Why are they successful? You plant them like trees; you let them prosper and produce fruit. Yet even when they praise you, they don't mean it. But as for me, LORD, you know my heart. You see me and test my thoughts. Drag these people away like sheep to be butchered! Set them aside to be slaughtered! How long must this land mourn? Even the grass in the fields has withered. The wild animals and birds have disappeared because of the evil in the land. For the people have said, “The LORD doesn’t see what’s ahead for us!” Amen. This was the Prophet Jeremiahs lament for Israel and his view of the prosperity of the wicked. It seems always that evil people prosper and that justice is never found on the earth. That when bad things happen we water things down to the word karma or chance. God is not asleep at the wheel. He is not an idol that is lifeless and can do nothing. Through the precious blood of Jesus justice and mercy are being served fresh daily. For those who trample the blood there is no other remedy for sin and forgiveness. For those who receive Gods grace it is always there for renewal and repentance. Just like his mercy renews everyday so does Gods justice. The way of the LORD is a refuge to the upright, but destruction awaits those who do evil. God will not be mocked. You will reap what you sow if not in this life but the next. Yes, here in the land of the living judgment will come swift for the wicked. There will be no doubt about it and those who leave it to karma or chance have no clue of Gods power in coming vengeance of Jesus Christ our LORD. Thus says the Lord: “Keep justice, and do righteousness, for soon my salvation will come, and my righteousness be revealed. When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers. Behold, the wicked man travails with evil; he conceives trouble and births falsehood. Even on his bed he plots wickedness; he sets himself on a path that is not good; he fails to reject evil. With deceit in his heart he devises evil; he continually sows discord. Listen, I am starting to understand why David says I have never seen the righteous begging for bread. The LORD is always concerned about justice and truth. God hates haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. Jesus told his disciples a story about the persistent widow to show that they should always pray and never give up. Will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? He will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” For those who continually practice evil and teach others to do so, all you have is a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. The righteous are as bold as lions but the wicked run when no one is chasing them. The wicked are constantly looking over there shoulder because the blood of Jesus testifies against them. Judgment can come today, tomorrow, or in the next life. The point is Jesus is coming. Today is the day to leave sin and wickedness behind before you are swept away with the devil and his minions.
