Proverbs of a 40 yr old man

Every day is a terrible day for a miserable person, but a cheerful heart has a continual feast. When someone is unhappy, they feel miserable every day. For a cheerful person, every day is like a party. The contrast here is about how one perceives their circumstances. This is likely not meant as a comparison between success and suffering, but between despairing pessimism and godly trust. Perspective has great impact on one's happiness.

Just like a person who respects God may have few possessions. But that person’s life is better than the wealthy person who has many troubles. Negative people constantly complain and never see a bright side in any circumstances. They are gloomy, negative, and seem bent on making life miserable for others. They make the worst of every situation. Cheerful people may encounter difficult circumstances, but they find a sense of joy, even in adversity. There is a precious joy that is borne through suffering, and the Holy Spirit can bear that in us through Christ. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Each day we are in relationship with Jesus we are becoming more like Him. His Living Word in us is a continual feast that births a cheerful heart in every situation we face. A joyful heart is good medicine, it strengthens a person heart to endure. Sorrow may hide behind laughter, and happiness may end in sorrow. Many sorrows come to the wicked, but unfailing love surrounds those who trust the LORD. So rejoice in the LORD and be glad, all you who obey him! Shout for joy, all you whose hearts are pure! The peaceable fruit of Righteousness produces a harvest of joy and peace. Let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them ever shout for joy. May You shelter them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You Jesus..
