Mercy is so hard to give until you need it yourself. There will be a day where you will need, will you be deserving of it? Show mercy to others and you will be shown mercy. Mercy is the first step before anything. Before actual forgiveness. Even more difficult is giving grace. Let's go over some definitions to clarify. Mercy is withholding deserved punishment, while grace is receiving what is not deserved. Mercy is about not getting what you deserve, like avoiding a penalty for wrongdoing. Grace, on the other hand, is receiving a positive benefit, like a gift or blessing, that you don't have a right to. Mercy is a form of compassion, often associated with forgiveness or leniency. It involves sparing someone from a punishment or consequence they deserve, as in, "He showed mercy to the offender by letting him off with a warning". Grace is a free and unmerited favor or blessing. It's about receiving something good without having to earn it or deserve it. For example, "She received grace in the form of a scholarship that allowed her to attend university. Also, think of a car accident. If the driver who caused the accident is spared from arrest or a fine, that's mercy. If, however, they are given a new car, that's grace. I want close with some Scripture see how God uses mercy, forgiveness, and grace. Read Romans 11 starting in verse 29, let Holy Spirit speak: For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable [for He does not withdraw what He has given, nor does He change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call]. Once, you Gentiles were rebels against God, but when the people of Israel rebelled against him, God was merciful to you instead. Now they are the rebels, and God’s mercy has come to you so that they, too, will share in God’s mercy. For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all. Yes, all people have disobeyed God, and that's why he treats them as prisoners. But he does this, so that he can have mercy on all of them. Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! Amen! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! Jesus is Gods mercy and forgiveness. He is LORD of all through the Cross and Ressurection. He now freely gives grace to all who will believe and trust in Him.
