Sick and tired. Are you tired of being sick and tired? I am actually going to show you that it's the natural process of life. When you think about sick in this context, sin wears our bodies out. As we age and just life experiences that happen to us, the effects of sin will start to show on our bodies. Thankfully, our inner person is being renewed every day in Christ. But our bodies are wasting away because of the curse of sin and death. Sin is a sickness in our lives that we need the antidote of grace found in Jesus. We live this life sinning less and less every day, but it does take its toll on us. He who began a good work in you will continue it till He comes again. God in Christ is always working and reversing the curse of sin. Over time though we will get sick and tired. The Spirit of God cannot contend with the hearts of men. Think about this verse. Gen.6:3 Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not strive and remain with man forever, because he is indeed flesh [sinful, corrupt given over to sensual appetites]; nevertheless, his days shall yet be a hundred and twenty years.” Amen. As we get older, we start to notice we will not live forever. We want to live forever; it's in every fiber of our being to want to live forever. God has put eternity in our hearts. Our bodies though cannot keep up with our new renewed hearts in Christ. This is why we cry out for the redemption of our bodies. Rom. 8:23 And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us.
Praise God, that our God is an everlasting God. Gods consuming fire lives in us. Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Amen. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever. Amen. I want to make a personal call to you to remember the LORD today while you have strength and passion. Because there will be a day where you will be sick and tired. And God will cause us to rest from all your labors in this world. What will He say of our time here on Earth? Will he say you where faithful with what He gave you. Come receive what I have prepared for you since before the foundations of the world? Like the ancients of our faith. He will say to go rest with our fathers. And like the old Gospel song Go rest high on that mountain 'Cause son your work on earth is done Go to heaven a-shoutin'
Love for the Father and the Son. I know your life On earth was troubled And only you could know the pain You weren't afraid to face the devil You were no stranger to the rain.
Let me close with Eccles. 12:1-7. Please listen and let the Spirit of Christ speak:
1Keep your Creator in mind while you are young! In years to come, you will be burdened down with troubles and say, “I don't enjoy life anymore.”
2Someday the light of the sun
and the moon and the stars
will all seem dim to you.
Rain clouds will remain
over your head.
3Your body will grow feeble,
your teeth will decay,
and your eyesight fail.
4The noisy grinding of grain
and the voices of singers
will be shut out
by your deaf ears,
but even the song of a bird
will keep you awake.+
5You will be afraid
to climb up a hill
or walk down a road.
Your hair will turn as white
as almond blossoms.
You will feel lifeless
and drag along
like an old grasshopper.
We each go to our eternal home,
and the streets here are filled
with those who mourn.
6The silver cord snaps,
the golden bowl breaks;
the water pitcher is smashed,
and the pulley at the well
is shattered.
7So our bodies return
to the earth,
and the life-giving breath+
returns to God.
