Proverbs of a 41 yr. old man

A life of intercession part 1. That really hit me as I reread Hebrews 7:25 Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Amen. He always lives to intercede for them? Wow, what does that mean? I want to explore this and make this message a part one as I hear more from Holy Spirit. I feel like this is one of the most important things God has ever put on my heart. Very exciting and humbling. Let's do this. So, what is intercession and what Jesus doing right now for us? Intercession is the action of intervening on behalf of another. The action of saying a prayer on behalf of another person. Yes, prayer, petition, or entreaty in favor of another. Here is a more biblical definition: Intercession is prayer on behalf of another and naturally arises from the instinct of the human heart--not merely prompted by affection and interest but recognizing that God's relation to man is not merely individual, but social. Religion thus involves man's relations to his fellow-man, just as in man's social position intercession with one on behalf of another is a common incident, becoming, in the development of society, the function of appointed officials; as in legal and courtly procedure, so in religion, the spontaneous and affectionate prayer to God on behalf of another grows into the regular and orderly service of a duly appointed priesthood. Knowing these definitions let's look at the Scriptures to what Jesus is doing right now in Heaven.

Hebrews 8:2-3 We have a High Priest who sat down in the place of honor beside the throne of the majestic God in heaven. There he ministers in the heavenly Tabernacle, the true place of worship that was built by the Lord and not by human hands. Amen. After Jesus ascended to heaven and was seated at the right hand of God the Father, He returned to the glory He had before His incarnation to carry on His role of King of kings and Lord of lords—His eternal role as the second Person of the triune God. While this old earth continues to be “won” for Christ, Jesus is the Advocate for Christians, meaning He is our great Defender. This is the intercessory role He currently fulfills for those who are His. Jesus is always pleading our case before the Father, like a defense lawyer on our behalf. Jesus is interceding for us while Satan (whose name means “accuser”) is accusing us, pointing out our sins and frailties before God, just as he did with Job. But the accusations fall upon deaf ears in heaven, because Jesus’ work on the cross paid our sin debt in full; therefore, God always sees in His children the perfect righteousness of Jesus. When Jesus died on the cross, His righteousness (perfect holiness) was imputed to us, while our sin was imputed to Him at His death. This is the great exchange Paul talks about in 2 Corinthians 5:21. That took away forever our sinful state before God, so God can accept us as blameless before Him. Jesus lives a life of intercession for us! He died for us so that we would live for Him. Heb.10:5 That is why, when Christ came into the world, he said to God, “You did not want animal sacrifices or sin offerings. But you have given me a body to offer. Amen. On His Hands and Feet Christ bears the marks of the Cross. My goodness, He ever lives to intercede for humanity! How much more is He calling us to do the same. This is why I broke these messages in half because so much good spirit and life are this word of intercession. Jesus calls us to intercede for others as priests unto God. Rev. 5:10 And you have caused them to become a Kingdom of priests for our God. And they will reign on the earth.” Rom. 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Amen. The LORD Jesus is wanting us to be intercessors like Him. We are to be praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, staying alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints. Supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. Our lives lived like intercessors; we start to give our lives away like Jesus does for us. I will explore that in the next post. Remember Stars Wars and when a Jedi dies for tomorrow. Let me close with this verse: Rom. 5:10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Thank you, Jesus, for it's your life the Spirit of Christ in us that is the hope of glory! We have this treasure in jars of clay, the very life of Christ working in us and through us. A life of intercession. Thats my King, my LORD and Savior. Oh how He lives to intercede!
