A Life of Intercession Part two. I hope I stirred you enough last message with Stars Wars and Jedi at the end of my post to come finish with me part two. I will speak on that shortly. Let's start here Eph. 2:6-7, we are seated with Christ Jesus in the heavenly places. So, God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. Amen. A new life hidden in Christ, Jesus has called us to be intercessors like Him. He always lives to intercede and wants us to intercede as well. 1 Timothy 2:1-6 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. Amen. Every single one of us is called to various roles within the body of Christ, and one of these roles is that of an intercessor. We can take it upon ourselves to bear the burdens of our friends, family, and communities. By stepping into this role, we are yielding ourselves as vessels for God’s love and mercy. Intercessors become channels of grace, praying fervently even when we find it difficult to see results. This commitment creates a sense of unity in the body of Christ, as we collaborate by offering our prayers up for one another. Our prayers have the power to influence lives and change circumstances, especially when we intercede for others. This selfless act expresses our love and care for those around us. By taking time to pray for our family, friends, community, and even our enemies, we embody the teachings of Christ. Interceding for others helps shift our focus away from ourselves, and in doing so, we find true fulfillment. The Scriptures remind us of God’s love for every individual and how important each one is in His eyes. God calls us to give our lives away so that He can use us. To give our life away to intercession. And as you grow in your relationship with Jesus this is what truly happens. The cares of this world grow strangely dim and you care about others and Gods will that yourself. You worry less about you because God is interceding for you and the loved ones you are praying for. I have heard it said that intercession is not just prayer it is spiritual protest against what the pit of hell is trying to do. Let me bring my analogy of Stars Wars and the Jedi here. If you remember when the Jedi's died, they would join the force in the Universe for good. Each Jedi like Yodi and Obi One and others would show up and encourage the living Jedi's like Luke. I feel that is the same way with intercession. As we press into the Spirit of Christ and really start praying for others. Our hearts and minds are changed forever. It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. We start to live this life of intercession with Jesus trusting in the finished work of the Cross and the Power of Holy Spirit to change lives. We become for lack of a better analogy part of the force universe that Jedi's went to. As we intercede here in the land of the living, we lose our lives to this world to allow God to move through us. We are part of his intercession and pray to Him for grace and truth. It’s a profound privilege to stand in the gap for others, as we collaborate with the Holy Spirit and lean into God’s promises. We can gain immense encouragement and strength through interceding, making an eternal impact in our lives and the lives around us. Embracing this calling with love and commitment allows us to reflect Jesus Christ’s heart and example. Let’s commit to being faithful intercessors, knowing that our prayers do not go unheard but are treasured by God. During crises and challenging times, the importance of intercession cannot be overstated. Our prayers can be a source of strength and hope for those experiencing hardship. Interceding during these moments not only blesses others but also helps us to process our own feelings of fear or uncertainty. God calls us to be vessels of healing in a world that desperately needs it, showing empathy and compassion through prayer. Let’s look to the Scriptures that encourage us to stand in prayer during tumultuous times, revealing how vital our intercessions can be. Yes, you are called to a life of intercession. To live for Christ and dying to yourself, doing the will of God. He ever lives to intercede, and we live for Him interceding for others. Find your seat in the heavenly places next to Christ. In knowing Him we will find purpose and rest for our souls. LORD Jesus, we honor you in this verse, make us more like you in this life of intercession: “Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” – Isaiah 53:12
