Proverbs of a 41 yr old man

In the seat of mockers. Blessed are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. Amen. God hates mockers. Now what is mocking or scoffing?Mocking involves laughing at someone in an unkind, cruel way showing contempt. It can involve imitative speech or action which is amusing but unkind. You scoff others when you laugh and talk about a person in a way that shows you think they he or she is stupid or silly. Even in religious circles you will see a pharisee mocking spirit. Listen to Jesus thought about a Pharisee: The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed this prayer: ‘I thank you, God, that I am not like other people—cheaters, sinners, adulterers. I’m certainly not like that tax collector! I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my income.’ It is so easy to sit in the seat of mockers. To along with the advice of the wicked and not listen to God's word first. To stand around with sinners doing nothing but enjoying the fleeting pleasures of sin. To join in with mockers and hide behind your own frailty and failures. Let me end by reminding words of wisdom. If you are a mocker, you alone will suffer (Proverbs 9:12) and if a mocker is driven out, then there is an end to strife, quarrels and insults (Proverbs 22:10) as happened when Ishmael was driven out. Great judgement is warned against the eye that mocks a father (Proverbs 30:17). Let us ask God to search our hearts today. Get up from the seat of mockers and find some new friends or coworkers that encourage and build up.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you and lead me along the path of everlasting life. He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Our LORD Jesus enduring mocking and jeering on the Cross. He said Father forgive them for they know not what they do. Love can endure mocking because God can cause all things to work for our good. But let's fight back against that wicked Spirit to mock others and even God. I think about Apostle Paul holding Stephen's robe standing by doing nothing as he was martyred. Many of us stand by and watch mocking and sneering. We sit in the seat of mockers instead of being seated with Christ. Look, the LORD is standing up in all his glory, will he find faith on this earth? Get up from the seat of mockers and stand up for righteousness. Be a David standing against Goliath. Then David spoke to the men who were standing by him, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes the disgrace [of his taunting] from Israel? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he has taunted and defied the armies of the living God?”
