Proverbs of a 41 yr old man
You need Holy Spirit fruit in your life. Without the Spirit of Christ we become unfruitful in our thinking and in our lives. The earthly fruit that we do have came from the sweat of our brow and wanting to prove we are right before people. We quickly find out living in this life that we are barren and have nothing to give. Money does not satisfy, the pleasures of this world don't satisfy, and the abundance of things cannot produce life in you. It is the spiritual things that bring us much fruit and meaning. When life gets difficult it is virtue and character that gives us real satisfaction. But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. Love is the foundational fruit of the spirit, which leads to treating others with kindness, compassion, and forgiveness. Joy is a natural result of allowing the Spirit of God to work in your life. Peace is a result of living by the Spirit, and may mean needing more God rather than more control. Goodness is a fruit of the spirit that reflects God's character, and can be found in areas of life where sin once held sway. Faithfulness is the trusting that you will survive and thrive through life's ups and downs. Gentleness is a grace of the soul that involves being calm, serene, and tranquil. Amen. So many people living in this world have thr appearance of godliness, but denying its power. God’s will is for you to be holy, so stay away from all sexual sin. Then each of you will control his own body and live in holiness and honor not in lustful passion like the pagans who do not know God and his ways. Never harm or cheat a fellow believer in this matter by violating his wife, for the Lord avenges all such sins, as we have solemnly warned you before. God has called us to live holy lives, not impure lives. Therefore, anyone who refuses to live by these rules is not disobeying human teaching but is rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you. I don’t need to write to you about the importance of loving each other, for God himself has taught you to love one another. Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. Then people who are not believers will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others. Amen. This is being fruitful and living in the Spirit. His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us toc his own glory and excellence,d by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire. For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue,e and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or UNFRUITFUL in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he is blind, having forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins. Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
